Admiralty accuracy; Admiralty assurance
Admiralty paper charts have always carried the assurance of Admiralty quality with its guarantee of accuracy and integrity of data. Admiralty Information Overlay brings this same level of assurance to the age of electronic navigation.
AIO adds Admiralty Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners to both e-Navigator and Admiralty Vector Chart Service, free of charge, adding Admiralty assurance to both the planning and navigation of a voyage.
Crucial changes; additional information
Things change constantly out on the world's oceans. Unfortunately, it can take time for such changes to be reflected in national ENCs.
To produce AIO, Admiralty constantly cross-checks and reviews data received from hydrographic offices around the world. Temporary changes or hazards such as changes in aids to navigation ensure that your ECDIS and e-Navigator are always working from the latest, most accurate information.
Easy to use; clearly displayed
If your ECDIS is compatible, AIO can be toggled on and off, and appears as an overlay on the ENC display on your ECDIS screen.

The Overlay contains information about changes or hazards of a temporary nature, such as temporary changes in aids to navigation, advance notice of permanent changes about to take place, such as new survey information that will later be issued as an ENC update and additional information of relevance to Admiralty customers that has not been included in national ENCs.
The information contained in the Overlay is important navigational information which should be used when planning a voyage and may be referred to when navigating. The Admiralty Information Overlay contains all Admiralty T&P NMs in force worldwide and additional ENC P (EP) NMs that relate specifically to ENCs.
ECDIS Compatibility
The Admiralty Information Overlay is available to view in Admiralty e-Navigator and a growing number of ECDIS. Please consult your ECDIS supplier.
The Admiralty Information Overlay allows the value of the UKHO's huge store of hydrographic information to be made available to the users of ECDIS, as it has always been to the users of Admiralty paper charts."
