Introducing safer more efficient navigation
The International Maritime Organisation's decision to introduce a carriage requirement for ECDIS beginning in 2012 is set to revolutionise the way we navigate forever. Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) and ECDIS in tandem with Radar and other NAVAIDS, sensors and other application tools will give greatly enhance real-time situational awareness and enable optimal routeing for safer, more efficient passage planning.
The world's most comprehensive ENC service
As you would expect from Admiralty, our ENC service, AVCS, provides the most comprehensive official, SOLAS compliant vector chart service in the world. In total AVCS provides berth to berth coverage of all the major trade lanes between more than 1,740 of the world's busiest and biggest ports. AVCS provides over 1,000 ENCs and 448 ports that are not available in any other ENC service in the market.

One single, efficient chart system
Our comprehensive coverage means that AVCS customers can now navigate berth to berth using 100% ENCs on the majority of routes. Sailing berth to berth on a single, SOLAS compliant chart service has huge operational benefits. It simplifies the administration of chart selection, ordering and updating. And, because its 100% official, it also provides that extra level of assurance you only get with Admiralty. Many AVCS customers are now also sailing paperless making the efficiency savings even greater.
Now we have the one system, it's easier, it's cheaper, and the company likes that we have only one system for the whole fleet."

Total flexibility to save you time and money
Routes and trading patterns can change frequently. AVCS also offers the most flexible chart licensing available to help you keep chart costs low. Coverage can be bought in folios or as single charts for periods of as little as 3 months at a time. There is no minimum order value. AVCS also enables you to get fast access to additional ENCs as you need them, when you need them.
Always up to date
As you would expect from Admiralty, AVCS also has the most comprehensive ENC update service in the world. We provide our unique Admiralty remote updating software free of charge so you can download AVCS updates quickly and simply from anywhere in the world. And, for complete peace of mind, we also provide you with AVCS updates every week on CD.
The market's choice
AVCS is used by all vessels that value an official, compliant solution for navigation from product tankers to cruise ships and bulk carriers. Since its launch in April 2008 there are now more than 1200 SOLAS ships navigating at sea with AVCS. More than 30 new ships join AVCS every week.
Admiralty Information Overlay
All AVCS subscriptions now come complete with the Admiralty Information Overlay (AIO), the only global digital service that includes worldwide Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners. Combined with Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS), AIO gives you the power, utility and safety which electronic charts provide as well as the quality, reliability and integrity of Admiralty assured data.
