The Lloyd's List Global Awards 2011

The Lloyd's List Awards took place at the London Hilton Park Lane on Tuesday 20 September, 2011.

Rear Admiral Nick Lambert, UK National Hydrographer, presented the Global Training Award to this year's winner of the prestigious award, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation.

The judges said: "Magsaysay offered a persuasive account of sustained excellence in training seafarers and a welcome commitment to the families of its trainees.

Each year, Lloyd's List welcomes the biggest names in shipping to acknowledge great achievements. This provides the industry with a benchmark of excellence and a chance to give companies which work hard to raise standards in their own corner of the industry and recognition for their good work.

Training is a subject which is close to our hearts at Admiralty and that is why we sponsored this particular award for the third year running as well as the Lloyd's List Asia Awards 2011 which will be presented at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on October 26th, 2011.

It's through training that we develop our own expert teams to deliver the accuracy in the Admiralty paper and digital charts which mariners rely on. Training is also a vital part of our work with other hydrographic offices worldwide to help build hydrographic expertise globally.

A special mention also goes to Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre, whose work was Highly Commended by the judges.
